WE DREAMT, WE SAW, WE CONQUERED

In December 2014, the notion was set forth of starting the first South Asian sorority at University of Connecticut by one of the Chapter's now five Founding Mothers. Noticing the establishment of two UConn South Asian interest fraternities, Delta Epsilon Psi Fraternity Inc. and Beta Chi Theta Fraternity, Inc. and the lack of unity between South Asian women on campus, the desire to establish a space for camaraderie and inclusivity of all backgrounds was compelling.

Delta Phi Omega was chosen as the unifying organization due to its pillars, promise of eternal sisterhood, and pure philanthropy. After a little more than a year and a half, a strong interest group was formed and undergraduate females were recruited into this vision. These women were unaware that their decision would forever write them into history. The National organization proceeded to gain approval for expansion on December 6, 2016 by UConn's Intercultural Greek Council.

Facing a journey riddled with dedication, perseverance, and patience, the five Founding Mothers of the Alpha Delta Chapter were warmly welcomed into Delta Phi Omega's sisterhood on November 11, 2017. These women aspired to establish a Chapter that would not only voice South Asian concerns but also serve as a supportive environment for self-exploration and altruism in its purest forms. The Founding Mothers pride themselves on the route taken to achieve their goals and their principles of leadership, service, academics, and sisterhood. The Chapter is determined to uphold the national legacy of being the strongest, largest, and fastest-growing sorority of its kind.
